Advantages and Disadvantages of Invisalign Clear BracesAdvantages and Disadvantages of Invisalign Clear Braces
When it comes to orthodontic treatment, there are a number of options available. One popular option is Invisalign clear braces. Invisalign offers a combination of aesthetic appeal, comfort, and convenience that makes it an excellent choice for many patients. However, like any treatment, it is not without its downsides.
Invisalign Treatment Overview
Using advanced software, Invisalign braces create a detailed treatment plan showing how your teeth will shift over time with the use of aligners. Once the treatment plan is finalized, custom aligners are fabricated. For the best results, you will need to wear your aligners for 20 – 22 hours each day, removing them only for eating, brushing, and flossing.
Invisalign clear retainers are virtually invisible so they won’t show up in photos, unlike traditional metal braces which can leave a telltale mark. This is a huge benefit for adult patients who don’t want their coworkers and clients to know they are undergoing treatment, as well as self-conscious teens who don’t want to worry about people commenting on their smiles in class photos.
The aligners are comfortable to wear with no wires or brackets that can irritate the inside of your mouth. You may experience some discomfort or pressure the first few days after wearing new trays, but this will subside shortly. Some patients also report heightened tooth sensitivity while wearing Invisalign, but toothpastes that are designed for sensitive teeth can help mitigate this.
Some dental and health insurance plans cover some or all of the cost of Invisalign. Contact your insurance provider or doctor’s office to find out if you are eligible for coverage.…
